1) Primary sport(s): Trail ultrarunning
2) Team member since: 2008
3) City/state of residence: Seattle, WA
4) Occupation: Running Store Manager
5) Goals for 2010: To run well in the 100 mile distance.
6) Notable achievements/memories/PR’s in your sport: I’m the guy that nearly won Western States in 2006. It’s certainly my most bittersweet achievement in the sport. I’m also quite proud of my 2nd place finish at the 2007 White River 50 Mile National Championship.
7) Favorite inov-8 gear: Roclite 295s, X-Talon 210’s, and all of the packs.
8) List one thing others may not know about you: I’m a super Pearl Jam fan.
9) Favorite energy drink/food: Favorite drink- Kona Kola Nuun Favorite food- whatever goes down easiest at a given time.
10) Your favorite race and why? The Chuckanut 50k. This was my first ultra. On top of that, Bellingham was where I lived during college and where my trail running passion began.
11) Advice to other athletes: It’s very important to set goals and prioritize some races over others. However, try not to make any single race the end-all-be-all. There are too many variables when racing, especially beyond 50 miles. Don’t let you whole season go down the toilet just because one race didn’t go your way. Remember, the reason we all got started trail running is because it’s fun. Try to keep it that way.
