Mielke & Tarves Set CR's At Rock 2 Rock Trail Run

Youth and speed trumped experience and endurance at the Rock 2 Rock 10k in Black Mountain, NC this past Friday afternoon. Meadow Tarves, sister of Shiloh Mielke made her Team Inov-8 debut a successful one by setting a course record (56:19) on the mountain course where almost 2k of climbing and very warm temps set the stage for a brutal 10k+. Shiloh ran a blistering time of 46:01 and bettered the CR by over 2 minutes against a deep field on the men's side. The Lundblad's did not have near enough real estate to make this competitive and finished 3rd and 5th OA. The course was very steep and challenging throughout with several blow downs where runners had to crawl under, hurdle over and wrestle their way through some sections. I talked to Shiloh after the race and he said it was an almost perfect mountain course except that it was not as well groomed. I'll second that! Congrats to Meadow and Shiloh!

Great job to Team Inov-8. Talk about some great representation. That looks like a very "fun" course, and a great festival. I keep hearing that North Carolina has some of the best trails and mountain running in the country. I'd love to see a Mountain Team Qualifier out there.
